Acupuncture: is an ancient Chinese form of health care that has evolved into a complete and holistic medical system. Practitioners of acupuncture and Chinese medicine have used these systems to diagnose and help millions of people get well and stay healthy for thousands of years. Modern clinical studies are beginning to shed light on the physiological effects that acupuncture has on the body, they have found that it initiates the release of the body's natural pain control chemicals, opioid peptides, which create and analgesic effect. The activation of the nervous system and certain pars of the brain have also been shown to be involved through the secretion of certain chemicals, changes in blood flow and an alteration in the way that the injured or problem area is sending information to and receiving information from the brain.

What happens during acupuncture? Our doctors will place fine, sterile needles at specific acupoints on the body. This activates the body's energy and promotes natural healing by enhancing recuperative power, immunity and physical and emotional health. It also can improve overall function and well-being. It is a safe, virtually painless and effective way to treat a wide variety of medical problems.

Is Acupuncture painful? ACU is essentially painless. The needles are as fine as a human hair and are very sharp. When the needle enters the tissue, it parts the tissue where a typical hypodermic needle cuts the tissue, resulting in pain. Some people feel only a small prick as the needle passes the skin, many don't feel anything at all. There may be a sensation of a heaviness, slight ache or a twitch as the needle reaches the correct spot, or there my be no sensation felt at all.
